Field test investigation of the performance of corrosion inhibitors: a case study

Abstract Corrosion is considered one of the major problems that affect flow assurance during hydrocarbon production. This irreversible phenomenon has ability to cause serious material failure in oil and gas industry. Consequently, heavy capital operational costs are required prevent corrosion processes. Sweet raw production facilities an Algerian field manifests inside surface installations, which leads interruption high intervention costs. To mitigate this type corrosion, many methods can be applied such as selection appropriate materials, injection inhibitors, use protective coating. In work, main points system have been affected by inspection techniques used studied were reviewed. Moreover, efficiency two types inhibitors (film-forming/neutralizing film-forming chemicals) was measuring rate conducting chemical analyses on produced water samples laboratory. The results laboratory regarding pH iron content measurement point out film-forming/neutralizing significantly shifted medium from acid more neutral value decreased content, while inhibitor only decreasing its tenor samples. These confirm functions each protect metal against internal corrosion. comparison between single- double-function reveals (CK981DZ) outperforms film-forming/ neutralizing with exceeds 99% at low rate. it provides good compatibility stability all through path. Meanwhile, application double function (film-forming/neutralizing) reduced carbon steel structures, but involved formation deposits processing plant. findings study help give a better understanding methodology performance evaluation real condition production, also criteria screening based tests.
